The Idea
Why earrings? This project began with the desire to create a piece that anyone can wear, and that it will showcase the individual’s environmental values. It took 3 weeks to choose the final pattern. Claire did multiple drawings, then the three favorites were 3D modelled. To gauge preference from the community, a survey was conducted on social media. The favorite earring was then prototyped.

The Material
The chosen plastic was HDPE because it is safe to recycle, not producing harmful fumes. The plastics were collected and washed by students from Cegep du Vieux Montreal and Concordia University.

The Process
The plastic was then shredded into tiny pellets, these pellets were placed in a sheet press machine to create the plastic sheet. The plastic sheet was then set to cut the earrings in its shape following the designed 3D model. Lastly, we assembled each piece by hand.
